First met Dave back in the early 70s when I was taking swing lessons from Bill Strausbaugh at Columbia CC, Dave's club back then. Saw one of the prototypes of the Teacher Putter. Got to know well in amateur tournaments and was with him on the putting green at Ridgewood CC at the US Amateur in 1974 when the USGA refused to let him use the Teacher Putter in competition – saying it had movable parts (illegal back then).

Last saw Dave in the mid-1990s at Bill Strausbaugh's retirement dinner at Columbia CC. Dave and I had many wonderful conversations thru the years. A good man who meant so much to golf and will be sorely missed.
