My father and Dave Pelz shared a friendship that began during their time at NASA. As a young boy, I had the unique opportunity to work for Dave, first in the basement of his home and later at his inaugural facility. I watched in awe as he poured his heart into developing groundbreaking innovations like the Teacher Putter, the TAC, and the Featherlight Clubs. Little did I know, I was witnessing the early days of a true pioneer.
While I never learned to play golf, I hold fond memories of an ever-enthusiastic “Mr. Pelz” passionately explaining the sketches, blueprints, and designs scattered across his office. It was impossible not to admire his dedication. Though my role was very small, I feel privileged to have been a part of those inventive moments, and I’ve held on to a few of those items in my garage all these years.
Thank you, Dave, for giving a young kid a chance and for demonstrating the determination and passion it takes to succeed at what you believe in. You will be missed, and I will always remember you with gratitude and admiration.
